25MWh / 10MW BESS with 132kV Grid Connection
Full electrical design for a 25MWh / 10MW BESS facility connected to the German 132kV distribution network, including substation, protection, and SCADA design.
The Challenge
The project presented significant space constraints on site combined with a dense cable network spanning power, control, auxiliary, fire, and drainage systems. Coordination across multiple OEM suppliers — each with independent information release timelines — added further complexity and risk of design clashes.
Our Approach
Ecovoltec applied a structured onboarding and design implementation process, locking in a Design Strategy Milestone at 10% completion with a formal sign-off from all parties. Drawing on experience from 30+ large-scale BESS projects, the team produced a constructable, change-order-free first iteration. Constant internal cross-discipline communication eliminated the onsite clashes that typically arise when multiple subcontractors work in parallel. OEM consultation was used wherever specialist knowledge was required.
The Outcome
The project was delivered ahead of schedule with a visually polished, construction-ready drawing package. Flex Power Energy described the result as exceeding expectations — noting the professionalism, speed of delivery, and openness to revisions throughout the design process.
Services Delivered
“It was a complicated project with 132kV substation, and the BESS System Design. Ecovoltec exceeded our expectations. Their work was visually appealing and highly professional, with an incredibly fast delivery time. Great results, and always open for revisions.”
